Ingredients

  • 800 g flour
  • 700 g sugar
  • 1/2 litre extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 litre of red wine
  • 2 sachets baker’s yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • grated lemon zest

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour with the olive oil and wine, then add sugar and salt.
  2. Mix carefully to obtain a uniform dough.
  3. Line a baking tin with greaseproof paper.
  4. Make small doughnuts from the dough and place them in the tin leaving space for the dough to rise.
  5. Sprinkle them with sugar.
  6. Bake at 180°C for 20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  7. In Frascati, they are dipped into Cannellino dessert wine and eaten together with “Pizzutello” grapes.
